You dont have to use an RJ-11 Cable all the time if You dont want to...Sometimes, I go to a site, Use my Rj-11 to Initially load, then leave a 9 pin connector/wire on site.
1-) I have an rs-232 card in my truck. (If you dont have one or an 232 card installed on the panel you need to load, you cant use the 3-cpu comm port to load system.) (You cant use this procedure)
2-) 3 wires --Wire to RX-1 , TX-1 , Comm-1 on bottom of 3-Cpu (where you would wire in a printer or fireworks)
On 9-pin Female Connector -- PIN-5 to COMM-1 on Est3 , Then PIN-2 to Rx-1 on Est3 , Then PIN-3 to TX-1 on Est3
(Leo has this wiring diagram below)
3-) In SDU under Cabinet , go to Ports
PORT 1 Type - PRINTER
Baud - 9600
4-) Load the Cpu(s) using your Rj-11 initially with above settings.
Note: Connecting the SDU computer to an optional serial
communications port does not affect the Network A port. If a
3-RS232 option card is connected to the CPU, you can download
data to any panel on a Class B network regardless of where the
panel physically connects to the network data riser.
