EST3 - SDU V3.71 Automatically Changes Device Types
Introduction
We’ve identified an issue with SDU version 3.71 that impacts the operation and configuration of new and existing systems that have been upgraded to this version of the software. This technical bulletin informs you of the issue and tells you how to resolve it. Issue
SDU version 3.71 automatically changes the device type of some operator layer switches and 3-IDC8/4 card circuits to Local Relay when you click OK to close the 3-ASU Configuration dialog box. The following operator layer switches and 3- IDC8/4 card circuits are affected:
• Operator layer switches (typically addresses 4 to 7) installed on all amplifiers assigned to the 3-ASU, including those in other Cabinets
• Operator layer switches (typically addresses 4 to 7) and operator layer LEDs (typically addresses 129 and 130) installed on all 3-IDC8/4 cards if the 3-ASU is in Cabinet 1
• All 3-IDC8/4 card circuits (typically addresses 3 to 6 if an operator layer switch is installed and addresses 3 to 8, 600, and 601 if an operator layer switch is not installed), if the 3-ASU is in Cabinet 1
To determine if you have this issue, open the Object Configuration table (Configure > Objects) and see if the device types for any of your operator layer switches or 3-IDC8/4 card circuits are set to Local Relay. Rules compile will generate errors for the operator layer switches because the device type is not valid for the left side of the rule. Depending on how your rules are written, rules compile may not generate errors for the 3-IDC8/4 card circuits. TFN 0901001 • ISS 04FEB09 Page 2 of 2
Solution
For existing projects:
• To fix operator layer switches and LEDs you must remove them from the project then add them back with the same labels and switch configurations.
• To fix 3-IDC8/4 cards with operator layer switches or LEDs you only have to open the 3-IDC8/4 Configuration dialog box, and then click OK.
• To fix 3-IDC8/4 cards without operator switches or LEDs you must remove them from the project, and then add them back with the same labels and circuit configurations. If the 3-IDC8/4 card circuits were members of any logic groups you must add them back to their previous logic groups. For new projects, configure the 3-ASU before you configure your operator layer switches and 3-IDC8/4 cards. This issue will be corrected in a pending deviated release of the SDU followed by a full release.
