QuickStart – Call for Service Event
Introduction
This bulletin informs you of an issue affecting QuickStart panels equipped with
DLD Dual Line Dialer cards running version 1.71 firmware, and tells you how to
resolve it.
Issue
Noisy digital subscriber lines (DSL) cause panels equipped with DLD cards
running 1.71 firmware to post a “Call for Service” trouble event. The noisy DSL
telephone lines can be attributed to an imbalance between tip, ring, and ground.
In addition:
• On panels running CPU firmware version 2.5 or later, the panel History file
may show 0114017 Line 1 Ground Fault events, a 0114018 Line 2 Ground
Fault events, or both
• On panels running CPU firmware versions earlier than 2.5, the Ground Fault
LED could be on, and in some instances could be on with the system normal
banner displayed on the LCD screen
Solution
To see if noisy DSL lines are causing your panel to post the “Call for Service”
trouble event, meter tip-to-ground, and then meter ring-to-ground.
If you measure greater than 0.50 VAC, notify the telephone service provider and
have them clear the noise in the telephone lines.
If you measure less than 0.50 VAC, install an Excelsus alarm panel DSL filter
(model Z-A431PJ31X) in line with dialer, between the dialer and the
RJ31X/RJ38X telephone jack.
